We had almost planned to handover our designs and leave back for Jaipur when our master weaver asked us to come over to his brother’s place, who had floor hand-looms at his home. And it resulted in a never before experience.
We have been working with Cotton in Rajasthan, West Bengal and Jammu & Kashmir for some time now. While the raw material is same, the finished fabric looks, feels & behaves differently, just like its lovely natives and the stories they tell.
After an amazing lunch while we were sitting around the heater for warmth in their naturally lit living room on that cold wintry Delhi noon, the stories about crafts started flowing. That is when Naani ji shared the story about this piece of fabric that she got from her grandmother!
